Pride 2010 sets another record
According to the Delta Foundation, more than 30,000 individuals
attended the final two days of Pride 2010, which ended more than a week
of Pride events and activities. That makes Pride ’10 Pittsburgh’s
largest Pride festival on record.
“This was, by far, the largest turn-out we’ve ever had,” said Gary Van Horn, president of the Delta Foundation.
Van Horn added that Pride 2010 set records, not only in attendance, “but also in the overall interest of sponsors, vendors, groups and organizations who wanted to be involved.”
City of Pittsburgh estimated an attendance of 8,000 for the Pride Awareness March and 20,000 for PrideFest. Tickets sales for Pride in the Streets, which was held the night before, were in excess of 5,000.
Last year’s Pride drew an estimated crowd of 25,000
When asked what accounted for the yearly increase in numbers, Van Horn replied, “Companies are starting to realize that the LGBT community is a segment that is important to them, and without their support, Pride would not be able to be the success that it is today."
“This is quickly becoming the event to be involved with in Pittsburgh,” he added.
2011 Pittsburgh Pride is scheduled for June 11-12.
