Divas invade the ’burgh

The Pittsburgh Symphony teams up with two divas this month. June 29 it’s the Tony Award-winning Idina Menzel, performing songs from the Broadway shows Rent and Wicked and her latest album Here I Stand. Singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile appears June 30. Broadway season announced

PNC Broadway Across America has announced its 2010-2011 season, featuring seven major musicals. From January to May Pittsburghers will have the chance to see Mary Poppins, South Pacific, Rock of Ages, Hair, Shrek, Next to Normal and West Side Story. Know your rights

The Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania will sponsor a town hall forum You Belong: At School, in the Workplace, as a Family, and in Politics—Issues and Answers on Law, Marriage, Money and Family Matters. The forum is intended to arm the LGBT Community with a better understanding of legal rights and will take place June 7 at 6:30pm on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University.

Rage of the Stage Players presents an evening of original monologues by James Michael Shoberg June 4-12 at the Studio Theatre in the basement of the Cathedral of Learning in Oakland.
