On Sept. 23 host Teresa Heinz Kerry spoke about clean energy for America at “Cool the Planet—Heat up the Economy,” an event at the Andy Warhol Museum that kicked off the G-20 summit in Pittsburgh.
The message, prepared by her husband John Kerry, addressed a climate change bill that Kerry and Barbara Boxer will introduce to the Senate.
Heinz Kerry cited Pittsburgh as an example of positive change. After the collapse of the steel industry, Pittsburgh became one of the greenest cities in America.
The ceremony opened with a speech by Mayor Luke Ravenstahl. Current AFL-CIO President Richard L. Trumka spoke as well.
Approximately 500 guests attended the event, including Heinz’s sons Chris and Andre, the Delta Foundation’s Cassandra Buncie and Scott Roler of Persad Center.
