Political group endorses independent
The Gertrude Stein Political Club has endorsed independent candidate Franco “Dok” Harris for the upcoming mayoral race on November 3.
Harris, who grew up on Pittsburgh’s North Side, is the son of Steeler football great Franco Harris and Dana Dokmanovich, long-time progressive advocate.
In statewide races, the Club has endorsed Jack Panella for the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Robert J. “Bob” Colville, Anne E. Lazarus and Kevin F. McCarthy received the nod for Superior Court of Pennsylvania. For Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, Barbara Behrend Ernsberger and Linda S. Judson were endorsed.
On the county level, Gertrude Stein endorsements went to Joe Williams, Susan Evashavik DiLucente, Arnie Klein and Don Walko for Allegheny Court of Common Pleas, and the Club recommend retention of Kim D. Eaton. For Allegheny County Council, endorsements went to Amanda Green(District 13) and Thomas R. Michalow (District 1).
Endorsed Pittsburgh City Council candidates are Natalia Rudiak (District 4), Robert Damiel Lavelle (District 6) and William Peduto (District 8). Pamela Macklin received support for Wilkinsburg Council. For Pittsburgh School Board, the group endorsed Sharene Shealey and Thomas Sumpter.
The Gertrude Stein Political Club is Pittsburgh’s home group LGBT and feminist organization.
